In Recycling-Centern wird Holz von Gebäudeabbrüchen, Umbauten oder Renovationen, Restholz von Baustellen und alten Holzmöbeln in die verschiedenen Altholzsorten getrennt. Anschliessend wird es zerkleinert und in unserem Holzkraftwerk in Aarberg verwertet. Dort gewinnen wir aus diesen Brennstoffen Energie zur Erzeugung von Dampf für die Zuckerfabrik, Strom für das öffentliche Netz und Wärme für das Fernwärmesystem.

When waste paper is recycled, substances such as ink, glue, and contaminants are removed. These materials form what is known as paper sludge. Paper sludge is therefore a waste product of the paper industry. Paper sludge is now 100% recycled. This material is particularly valuable for brickworks. Due to its high energy value, it is an important component in the production of bricks. But burning paper sludge also saves fossil fuels.

Sewage sludge is the waste produced during the treatment of wastewater in wastewater treatment plants. It consists of solids left over after the wastewater has been filtered and treated. The sludge contains organic matter, bacteria, and other contaminants.
